Reps - Send us your picks for Spring 19

SIBA wants to do more to support Rep Picks year-round.  We'd like to invite the reps that serve southern bookstores to submit no more than five titles you are excited about selling into southern stores. We'd like titles that are pubbing for the Spring season; April, May, and June - your top picks for Father's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Book Club, and Cinco de Mayo.  Email the list to wanda@sibaweb.com before Jan 1, 2019, and we'll share the list with our stores via an Edelweiss collection.

SIBA in the Springtime 2019 Call for Authors

We are making our plans for Spring and we'd love to include you. Here's how the event is shaping up and all of the opportunities for you to share your authors, books, and face-time with booksellers. 

Here's how things are shaping up:

Monday, March 18th - We are planning a Bookstores Bus Tour of the Atlanta-area bookstores and are in search of a sponsor at the $999 level.  We will also be hosting an Authors Dinner that evening and hope to share your authors and their new books with booksellers.

Tuesday, March 19th - EUREKAsiba* - This day-long bookseller event will be open to a maximum of 100 booksellers and will include lunch, a series of talks, breakouts, an author reception and dinner.  The American Booksellers Association will present an early morning education session and hold their Bookseller Forum over lunch.

Wednesday, March 20th - Carver Training - There will be a day-long Carver Training with Miriam Carver for anyone interested in learning more about the inner workings of SIBA's governance model.

Publishers are invited to participate and the pricing is as follows:  
$999 per publisher includes 3 titles in galley room, 2 attendees, 1 author; 
$899 includes 2 titles in galley room, 1 attendee, 1 author; 
$799 includes 1 title in galley room and 1 attendee.  
$699 includes single author + 1 title in galley room.
$599 includes single author only.
Every publisher sponsor will be listed on the website, and in the program. 
We will also have a materials table in the Galley Room for any materials publishers would like distributed to booksellers.  

 

*Items for any potential EUREKAsiba authors to consider:  Talks need to be between 11 and 18 minutes, and cannot go over time.  In developing your idea, write your idea down in one or two sentences. Ask yourself three questions: Is my idea new? Are you telling people something you're pretty sure they have not heard before? Is it interesting? Think about how your idea might apply to a room full of varied kinds of people. Who might be interested in it? Is it factual and realistic? If you are presenting new research, make sure your idea is backed by data and peer reviewed. If you are presenting a call to action, make sure it can be executed by members of your audience. If you answered “no” to any of these questions, refine your idea. Ask someone you respect who doesn’t work in your field, and if they answer “no” to any of these questions, refine your idea.

 

Here is a good structure for your talk.

1. Start by making your audience care, using a relatable example or an intriguing idea. 
2. Explain your idea clearly and with conviction. 
3. Describe your evidence and how and why your idea could be implemented. 
4. End by addressing how your idea could affect your audience if they were to accept it.

#SIBA18 & Rep Picks

The Rep Picks at the Discovery Show have come to an end.  We will not be offering Rep Picks at future shows.  We do want to receive Rep Picks collections via Edelweiss year-round that we can share with booksellers.  We'd also love to see "Rep Picks Exhibits" on the show floor and would love to receive an Edelweiss collection of those titles in advance of the show that we can also share with booksellers.  It is our goal to facilitate conversations between reps and booksellers on the show floor that allow for the exchange of favorites or picks of the season.  It is our belief that the show floor is sufficient to allow for this sharing. We'd like to extend an invitation to exhibitors and sales reps to send us suggestions for other ways we can make Rep Picks work for you and for your accounts. Send your ideas to wanda@sibaweb.com - we're interested in everything from the tried and true to the wild and crazy.

 SIBA wants to thank Nicki Leone and all of the reps who have participated in the Rep Picks over the years, and hope our new plan leads to connections and sales for all.

The #SIBA18 App Giveaway: Getting Show Attendees to Your Booth

#SIBA18 EXHIBITOR OPPORTUNITY: THE APP GIVEAWAY

One of SIBA's highest priorities is to encourage booksellers to meet more vendors on the exhibit floor. That is the goal behind the SIBA App Giveaway -- a running series of giveways offered throughout the show that send booksellers directly to exhibitor booths to claim their prize.

During the show, SIBA posts giveaways from exhibitors on its SocialLink show app -- the primary place for all show news and upated. Attendees monitoring the app can claim a prize by being the first to respond, and winners are directed to the participating exhibitor's booth to pick up their item.

The SIBA APP Giveaway is free to participate, and is a great way to highlight your lead titles. Use it to:

  • promote your "rep pick" books
  • bring attention to a booth signing
  • draw new accounts to your booth
  • get your titles on the phones of all the show attendees.

Think of the App Giveaway like an eblast that reaches all the booksellers at the show, and brings them to you face to face.

What's required:

  • a digital photo and description of item.
  • the item must be on hand at the exhibit booth for the winner to claim.

And naturally, it goes without saying that to take advantage of these opportunities you need to be registered exhibitors for the show. So if you haven't registered yet, now is the time!

Table Assignments! Important information for #SIBA18 exhibitors

We are so looking forward to seeing everyone next month at the Innisbrook Resort in Tampa. We're certain that everybody is going to love the space and have a great show. 

Exhibitor Booth Numbers have been published

Drayage and shipping information is here

Exhibitors should take a few minutes now to check their information for accuracy and avoid any dissapointments later. Like each of you, SIBA wants its exhibitors to be well-represented:

  1. Is your company name correct? This is how it will appear in the show directory, online and on your sign at the show.
  2. First time exhibitors are marked with a gold star. If you are a first timer and want a gold star, email nicki@sibaweb.com
  3. All sponsors are marked with a blue star. If you are a sponsor and don't have a clue star, email nicki@sibaweb.com
  4. If you represent more than one company, please confirm all your represented companiess are listed and the show specials are accurate
  5. Confirm any booth signing information included in your listing.
  6. Please confirm the number of tables you have been assigned matches the number you have reserved. Contact nicki@sibaweb.com immediately if you think there is a discrepancy.

Changes to your listings can be made via the form here. To be sure we don't miss any corrections, we ask that you submit all changes via the form in preference to emailing SIBA staff.

Changes made after Friday, 8/17 are not guaranteed to be included in the print directory

It's not too late to join us in Florida for #SIBA18 Discovery Show.

The show is coming together and we'd love to have you there.  We've assigned booth numbers. The Show Directory is soon headed to the printer.  Booksellers are registering every day.  But it is not too late for you. Be in touch and let us help you get you and your product in front of some of the smartest booksellers in the world. Besides connecting with booksellers (one interaction with a bookstore translates into 10,000 interaction with readers on average weekly). Learn more about the remarkable Return on Investment in SIBA's new Press Kit.

In addition to the floor opportunities which include the Buyers Raffle, Scavenger Hunt, and Exhibit Events, we are also offering many other opportunities to connect with booksellers.  Let us know if you are interested in helping us test Pop-Up RepPix on the show floor.  On Wednesday before the show, there's an opportunity to attend Driving Eureka with Doug Hall, and The Bookstores Tour. You can also checkout the 2019 TrioLive.  The 2018 Trio writers are reaping the benefits.
